We had a great time in St. Louis. A very productive 24 hours: free Budweiser brewery tour (with three free samples), the gateway arch and a Cardinals-Rockies game in the beautiful new Busch Stadium. Its gets better. Sitting four rows behind us were two friends from our class at Colgate. We caught up after the game and they showed us some of their favorite bars in St Louis including a great Cardinals pub called Paddy O’s and a posh bar called Lucas Park. I guess the Colgate network really does extend all over the US. To cap off our great visit, we were able to do laundry for the first time since San Francisco.
Next stop is Frisco, North Carolina on the Outer Banks. The drive will take 18.5 hours and 1100 miles so we’ve stocked up on Five-Hour energies. Taking a pit stop in Nashville, TN for dinner. Queue the concerned call from Mom.
Thank you to Peter the awesome seats to last night’s Cardinals game. Sitting only six rows behind the Cards dugout, Harry and I made sure to take full advantage of these seats by alternately heckling and cheering the Cardinals college-aged batboy, “Tanner.” In an effort to get Tanner to throw us a ball, we frequently cheered things like “attaboy tanner! Helluva job out there!” “That’s tremendous, Tanner!” And once even, “Hey Tanner, what’s it like living with Uncle Jesse?!”
Any suggestions on what to do in St. Louis? Were going to try and catch a Cardinals game but have nothing planned for the rest of the day. You all gave some great suggestions in San Fran so help us out in the comment box.
Another thank you to my sister Abi and bro-in-law Frosty who gave me a McDonald’s gift card as a graduation present. Its been the gift that keeps on giving. We just picked up chicken sandwiches at a Mickey D’s in Goodland, Kansas. We’ve set the cruise control at 80mph on 70-E and we hope to get into Topeka, Kansas before Bo-Bo’s Drive-in closes at 8:30, our next stop on the Hamburger America tour.
Thanks again to Emma Barge for hooking us up with tickets to a Giants-DBacks game in San. Francisco. Not only was it a critical game in a Pennant race but AT&T Park was stunning. We were surprised that no one gave us trouble for wearing Yankees gear. Even the mild-mannered fans in Minnesota gave us a tough time about our Yankee hats.
